Reaching up to 715 feet above sea level endowed with a cool climate, Casaroro falls was treated as a hidden treasure. Hardly hit by past typhoons, the falls still stands to its beauty and scenic structure as it is surrounded by vast forest trees and big rocks. This falls is located at Valencia, Negros Oriental - approximately a thirty minute ride from Dumaguete City. On your way to this destination, you will pass by Forest Camp and Tejero, two of the most famous pool resort in the province, both powered by natural river current.

Before you can see this astonishing falls, you must gear up to do a hard, bulky walk. Due to the many typhoons and earthquakes, it seems to be impossible to comfortably walk around at the base of the waterfall. Boulders of rocks welcome your adventurous spirit to embark the slippery steps going to the foot of the waterfall.

You will then understand why the falls was dubbed as the most photographed falls when you get  there. The waterfall is naturally narrow unlike other typical waterfalls. The cool breeze given by the rush of the pressure from the top releases your tension after the walk. The natural formation of the beauty of the falls caused by numerous natural calamities can be easily distinguished. The Municipal Government has erected picnic sheds for the visitors who frequent the area for the visitor’s convenience. The falls is still so photogenic to look, colorful and scenic, after all the damages it encountered.

Dumaguete City - Buglasan Festival

Hailed as the Festival of Festivals, Buglasan. It is an event for Negrenses to commemorate the rich culture of the whole Negros province. It is a symbol of unity through tourism and one of the biggest events here in Dumaguete City. According to dumagueteunitown.com, in the olden times, the island of Negros was referred to as Buglas, after the tall reeds that were predominant in the area. A map said to have been drawn by Diego Lope POVEDANO dated 1572 shows an island named Buglas Insulis. The Buglasan Festival named after Negros island's beginnings.

Buglasan Festival
Buglasan Festival has been on its festivity since the 1990's. It is being dubbed as the Festival of Festivals since the fiestas all over Negros comes to Dumaguete City, and compete with their fellow municipalites enthusistic boasting lively and themed festivals. The Buglasan Festival is Negros Oriental's provincial movable feast, participated in by the Province's five component cities and 20 municipalities.

It is a delight to experience this festival since these themed festivals and grand spends hundreds of thousands just to perform and give pride to each municipality they represent. Negros Oriental province has a rich history that we are proud of swiftlet. Here is a list of festivals that regularly compete in Buglasan Festival: http://www.touroriental.com/orientalnegros/negros-oriental-festivals.html. Not only it boasts its tourism but it also manifests pride of Dumaguete original talents as it also offers vast entertainment options. The Rizal Boulevard will be jam packed as it is going to be a venue for local original bands to play their most inevitable talents. The Buglasan Festival usually ends with pyrotechnics competition inviting municipalities all around the Philippines to participate and give light to the skies with their artistic fireworks routines. A venue in Dumaguete which is called the East Negros Village will host the event as it is the main grounds of Buglasan Festival. It displays all the booth and false representation of what you can enjoy in different municipalities. A clear manifestation of Negrenses love to land and its rich culture.

The Festival starts with a street parade around the city's streets and ends with a showdown of each municipality. From Manila, you can fly to Dumaguete (estimated cost of Php4,000 ++, round trip, one hour and 15 minutes). This is a way to expose the tourism of Cebu and nearby provinces. Dumaguete City

A laid back from the bustle and hustle in the busy metropolis. From the humble and charming island of Negros Oriental specifically in the capital city of the province, Still in the Visayas region; on the southeastern half of the Negros Island, nestled the gentle and fascinating metropolis of Dumaguete. It’s been dubbed as “ The city of Gentle People” as the phrase suggest, the locals are naturally accommodating and hospitable.

Additionally, it is also referred as the University town and it has earned the distinction of being known as the “center of learning in the South,” In fact, the city boast to have the country’s first Protestant University university and the first American university in Asia, Silliman University. Further, the city also houses two century old academic institutions, whose been tested by time and change, St. Paul University-Dumaguete and Negros Oriental State University. Furthermore, the city itself is a cosmopolitan and a culturally diverse city.

Dumaguete City

A day in Dumaguete is never been complete without witnessing the adorable sunset in the boulevard along the beautiful promenade of Rizal boulevard under the shade and the caress of the century old acacia trees along the lovely ground of the boulevard. Moreover, the city’s slow-paced appeal is enhanced with a handful of tourist attractions worth going, a charismatic vibe of the city and above all, the amiable people, that flashes a warm smile for everyone. That’s why some expats and tourists linger longer in my city.

Pigging out in the city of Gentle People.

Sans Rival, one of the hubs for sweet tooth people and a haven for a buttery treat. A crowd favorite for both locals and tourist, There you can have a deep bite of their famous silvanas and sans rival. You can also try their other offering.

You can also explore Dumaguete’s finest restaurants to pigging out with personalized service and a wallet friendly price. To name some of my personal choices are Gaby’s Bistro, Lab-as restuarant, HayahayTreehouse, Neva’s Pizza, Don Atilano and many others that one may find interesting. A real value for money and a time well spent. Not to mention, the food hawker along the boulevard, assembles at the twilight until the dusk of dawn, offers a variety of local staple food in Philippine streets and the infamous Ballot and tempura.

Silliman University Hall
However, what makes it apart from the others is the incomparable venue it has, situated at the iconic Silliman Hall as background with the Boulevard on the foreground accented with the relaxing breeze of the orient sea.

Getting there: Highways and byways along the picturesque scenery.

This coastal hometown of mine is tourist friendly as its strategically accessible by all mediums of transportation of your preference. Available transportation is by plane, bus, or boat and the fare is really cheap.

Prefer to go by Ceres bus it usually takes about 4 to 5 hours from Cebu South Bus Terminal. I really enjoy those times spent sitting watching the scenery outside, those picturesque views of both side either of those pristine and luscious mountains you can pass by with or the alluring and mystifying azul blue seas of the Taton straight with powdery white sea shores is such a delightful sight of paradise. Also, as we progress come near closer towards the Liloan port in Santander, Cebu city, one can fill ones stomach with various delicious and delectable local food products in each town if one is lucky enough that one vendor can get into the bus to sell.

Normally, the fare of Air conditioned or non Air conditioned buses cost about Philippine Peso (Php) 170.00 – 300.00. One can choose either traveling with Ceres Bus or with van for hire. Although both ways will actually work fine. If you have luggage and more time to burn, I would suggest you take the bus with Dumaguete (or Bayawan) signage in Cebu South Bus terminal. These buses go straight to Dumaguete via Bato-Tampi. Since the route is a bit longer and the bus will go on board a RORO, you have to shell out more peanuts though, roughly Php 80 – a hundred bucks. Van for rent is also available if one prefers to.

I am humbled of calling this at home, a place I keep longing and a tourist keeps seeking. Thus, Dumaguete my sweet escape.

I have shared the means, now pack your bags and brace yourself to fall in lovewith my city.

Ideal months for dolphin watching between are the months of May and September when the water is calmer and not so strong. Certainly, all tourists will be captivated by witnessing a wonderful sight-seeing of the dolphins and whales doing different strokes. Aside from that, guests will be mesmerized by the egregious beauty of two most commonly known tourist spot in Bais City.

Guests are to rent a cruise vessel that will be used for the whole entire day activities. These vessels are managed by the government where captains are licensed and maritime professionals. The vessel will take you to the habitat of these amazing dolphins that makes your travel and day bright with their friendly approach. It is recommended to go there at the earliest, at about 6 am, to see the peak energy of these dolphins. Watch their long bodies as they greet you with their flippers saying their welcoming you as their new friends. They are a lot and seeing them in flocks gives excitement to the eyes.

Dolphins can be seen at most times of the year along with pilot whales on occasions, recently there have also been sightings of whale sharks swimming around the boats and even close in near the cottages. There have also been sightings of large green turtles basking on the surface in the area. The whole duration of the dolphin watching takes for about 30 minutes at most. After travelling on the middle of the Tanon and watch over the Dolphins they will go to Talabong Mangrove park, a scenic place which was considered by Department of Environment and Natural Resources in the year 1985 as a “game refuge, wildlife sanctuary and a tourist spot” and also one of the place which has the widest range of planted mangrove in Oriental Negros, amazingly 400 hectares.

Who would you love to eat the whole pig roasted  over the coals? Its one of the  popular food in Thailand, it usually prepared during fiestas, Birthday Party, Wedding and other important events. Crispy skin is one of my favorite parts from the whole roasted pig it is served with hot chili sauce or liver sauce.

Lechon is popular not only in India, there are several regions in the world like Spain. It is said that Guinea is originated from Spain and even the name itself "pigs". There are countries that are also known to have pigs as their food during the party and celebration like Cuba, Puerto Rico, Canada and the Dominican Republic. Despite of some other countries who love to eat this food taste, this is known to be the national dish of the Philippines as acknowledged by American Chef Anthony Bourdain.

Cebu City  is a popular place with delicious and well cookedlechon. Some of their being imported are cooked and delivered to different part of the Philippines. If you have not tried to taste Lechon Cebu better try it. To cook this food, there are few things to consider having delicious taste of lechon. First understand those ingredients inserted to its stomach before the roasted process takes place. The taste of Guinea depends on how it stays over the charcoal and what ingredients are being used and inserted to its stomach. Crispy skin is the most important for pigs, people used to eat the skin first and it always the high light of this food. Proper temperature and heat is also important during the roasting process, charcoal is commonly used to cook the Lechon, but other countries used to cook Lechon using cooking chamber. But same result, delicious and crispy Lechon being prepared and served every special occasion.

Watches are one of the useful accessories man has ever invented. It is used to keep track of time, obviously, but it seems for the modern human being knowing the hour of the day is not enough. With modernity, humans are piled up with things to do and because of that they get lost track of their activities instead. Thus, the creation of computerized watches. Just recently, Google introduced a new platform for smartwatches called Android Wear which has a splendid approach in time device usage.

Unlike the conventional smartwatches, Android Wear has a unique voice command feature. With the magic words "Ok Google," you can get things done. You can organize information like taking notes, set appointments for notification. You can check for weather updates. It helps you reach your destination with its reliable navigation. It also allows you to connect with your smartphone. In a sense, the wear acts as an extension of your phone. Through that, you can respond to your messages and emails from friends. You can even see who is calling your phone at the moment.

Currently available Android wearables are LG G Watch (left) and Samsung Gear Live (right). They have similar square slab appearances. Their specs are all the same except for the screens. Gear Live has a 1.63” Super AMOLED touchscreen display. G Watch, on the other hand, has a 1.65” IPS LCD. Both have 1.2GHz processors, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Both work with Bluetooth 4.0 and are dust and water resistant. Their batteries, however, are typically good for one day, not quite expected for watches though. Aside from the two above mentioned, Motorola will be releasing their own Moto 360 wearable. It has a classic round face design which is very cool.
